The first three days of surgery have been an amazing experience for the whole team. In pre-op Barbara was happily surprised to learn that her translator would be Martha Hoyas, the wife of a local head surgeon, and her wonderful daughter, Carolina. Together, Barbara, Martha and Carolina brought smiles to very scared children and parents, and gave comfort to them while they waited to be called into recovery.

The wonderful ladies Joanne and Trish in records have spent the last 3 day working with Pamela, our head nurse, and Marie has been scheduling rescheduling, organizing records, and overall keeping us all on track.

17 surgeries were done on the 1st day, 13 on the 2nd, and 16 on the 3rd. They have done cleft lip revision, lip and nose revision, complete palate repair, Rino/septo.

As I got to stand back and watch each person on the team do their jobs, bettering the lives of each and every patient, it brought everything closer to home as to why we do this, and how proud and honored I am to be part of the mission and a Rotarian.
