Up at 3:30 AM, on the bus to the airport for our C-130 Hercules Military aircraft to return us to Caracas airport and our flight home, Well almost… the plane had mechanical problems and did not arrive. So we all took a commercial flight to Caracas, but it did not arrive in time for our connection to Houston. After a lot of discussion we all decide to stay over a day and catch the same arrangements the next day. If you have ever missed a flight you know what that does to your down line connections. Nearly everyone had a mess and long lay overs. But the relaxing day and evening at an airport motel made the next day's flight a lot more agreeable.
Everyone has made it home now and we are all basking in the accomplishments that we were a part of in Cumana. We evaluated 237 patients at the first day clinic. Of that total, 114 ultimately had a surgery and there were several multiple procedures, accounting for 140 total procedures.
