We touched down at the Internacional Jugo Chavez Airport early Tuesday morning, greeted by the pungent aroma of some unfamiliar Peruvian air and a handful of local Rotarians eager and friendly. After the better part of an hour waiting at customs, any air would do (fresh or not). We schlepped our luggage and dozens of boxes of medical equipment/supplies to our bus, excited to begin familiarizing ourselves with the people and places we would be surrounded by in the next ten days. The following video abridges the remainder of our first day in Lima. There's a great bit in which a local Rotarian Carlos translates a conversation between an older Peruvian gentleman and my very own flatmate Rick Waltonsmith.

After a somewhat brief formal meeting with the General Director of the hospital and the president of the local Rotary organization, everyone huddled up for a team photo.
