Children who are scheduled for an operation sometimes have a long wait in the pre-operation ward. Their mothers, fathers or family are with them, but without food or water it is hard. Therefore, our Rotaplast mission creates a playground. The kids will forget the time and have fun. Our Recreation Therapist Dave Sanders and the children are playing with toys in the playground. I took a look and really enjoyed the fun!
But when its their time, you can imagine that they are tensed when they come to the Operating Theater.
Our Anesthesiologist Dr. Pieter van Delden has found a fine way to calm down the patients and create some recognition for the patients in the OR.
Pieter told me the girl you see in the picture started pouting her lips and took some deep breaths when he showed her the mask for making them go to sleep.
