Mamta Devi, 48 sits with her husband waiting for the OR room to be ready for her surgery. About a year ago, Mamta was cooking chapati for her family, an unleavened flatbread, using the common fuel of a cow dung patty. The fuel caught fire and engulfed her arm, chest and neck in flame. Mamta is here for the release of a contracture on the inside of her elbow. Mamta is a brave woman with a beautiful spirit. Her delightful smile and personality communicated how grateful she was to Rotaplast to receive an operation that will enable her to move her arm more freely.
The day after her surgery, her daughter and her family arrived at the hospital and honored some members of the team with the gift of bangles. Many photos were taken as other patients and families in the ward gathered around.
