Today marked the last surgery day of our Rotaplast mission in Sylhet, a day filled with emotions and a modest celebration. With the final operations completed, we successfully concluded this mission with an impressive total of 63 patients and 92 procedures performed. Each surgery has contributed to improving the lives of the patients, a goal we have tirelessly worked towards.

The morning started like any surgery day, filled with concentration and dedication, but knowing it was the last, the atmosphere was extra special. Our surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses worked closely together to treat the last patients. After the completion of the operations in the early afternoon, there was a palpable sense of relief and joy among the team.

The conclusion of the mission was festively celebrated with a beautiful cake, offered as a treat to everyone involved in the mission: from local doctors and students who gained invaluable experience through our Global Scholar Program, to the volunteers who helped with translation, and of course, our own dedicated team.

In the afternoon, we began preparations for the follow-up clinic (post-clinic) and our departure, scheduled for Friday, January 24. These preparations were accompanied by a sense of accomplishment about what we have achieved together.

To truly round off this successful mission, the entire team spent the last evening together in the hotel. We dined together and even played a game, providing a relaxed and cheerful conclusion to our time here.

This day, and indeed the entire mission, reaffirms why we do what we do: changing lives, one surgery at a time, while simultaneously creating a lasting impact through education and collaboration. It’s a reminder of the power of compassion and expertise, brought together by Rotaplast.
