Rotaplast missions would not be possible without the generous support from our Rotary partners. Our team is very fortunate to have two Rotary Clubs from Lima involved with the Rotaplast Mission. Jorge Joels (left) is the President of Rotary Club El Rimac and our host club while Alberto Gustavo Silva Santisteban Larco (right) is President of Rotary Club de Lima. Joining them on a visit to the hospital is the District Governor of District 4455 – Peru, Juan Arbocco Rossi (middle).DSC_1113 (800x531)
Throughout the mission, Dra Margot Escobedo along with Dra Margarita Machino has taken care of and coordinated our every need, from obtaining additional medicines to arranging translators and everything in between.DSC_0844 (800x530)
Every day, an array of fruits, cheeses, sandwiches, empanadas and other snacks are provided for us in the morning at the hospital.  At lunch time, we are treated to home cooked meals prepared and served by the ladies of Rotary.DSC_0708 (800x530)

Our host Rotarians also took time to distribute clothing and diapers to the families of our patients. It was a very welcomed and most appreciated surprise.

Translators are the key to successful communication. Patients are often frightened or in pain after surgery.  A caring translator becomes their voice to the medical team taking care of them. Karin, a Rotarian, has been at the hospital every day offering compassion and comfort.DSC_0734 (800x530)
When Bryon was having a particularly difficult moment, Karin offered him a little distraction with a cartoon on her phone. These thoughtful acts of kindness are part of what defines the Rotaplast partnership with our local Rotarian hosts.
