The quilts you have seen are donated by Wrap-A-Smile.
Wrap-A-Smile Wrap-A-Smile was started by Terry Hodskins of the Wells Maine Rotary Club and to date over 24,700 hand-made cotton quilts have been shared around the world.
Also, on this trip, we have a Mother’s touch with Dr. Fleming’s Mother’s quilting group from her church, Colonial Church of Prairie Village, also contributing quilted blankets. Dr. Fleming has added a Mother’s touch to his patients’ care by using the quilts from Colonial Church for his patients.
- Dr. Fleming & Nurse Vickii Byrd get the patient ready for surgery under a comforting quilt.
- Dr. Fleming wraps his next patient in the quilt from his Mother’s church’s donated quilts.
Comfort quilts, created by quilters from all 50 states and several foreign countries, are gathered in Maine and then packaged to ship with medical missions. Boothbay Harbor Rotarian Dr. Ann Demeranville currently manages the project from Rotary District 7780 in Maine.
- Lead PACU Nurse Dixon-Beckett
- Dr. Anderson
- Dr. Betancur
These bright colored quilts are are both an emotional support and practical support, a touch of comfort as the patients go through surgery and really could use a quilt.
Thank you to our quilters!
