SAN FRANCISCO (October 11, 2023) – Rotaplast International is proud to announce that its strong financial health and ongoing accountability and transparency has earned a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator. This rating designates Rotaplast International as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating that our organization is using its donations effectively based on Charity Navigator’s criteria. Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most-utilized independent charity evaluator. Since 2001, the organization has been an unbiased and trusted source of information for more than 11 million donors annually.

Charity Navigator analyzes nonprofit performance based on four key indicators, referred to as beacons. Currently, nonprofits can earn scores for the Impact & Results, Accountability & Finance, Culture & Community, and Leadership & Adaptability beacons.

“We are delighted to provide Rotaplast International with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The Four-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that Rotaplast International is able to accomplish in the years ahead.”

“Our Four-Star Charity Navigator is further validation that our supporters can trust our commitment to good governance and financial health,” said Daniel DeSanto, Executive Director, Rotaplast International. “We hope that it will introduce our work to new supporters who can help us advance our mission to help children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities.”

For more than 30 years, Rotaplast International has provided free life-changing reconstructive surgery to over 20,900 children in 26 countries. Globally, the incidence of cleft lip, with or without cleft palate, is 1 in every 700 births. Cleft lip and/or palate is a heartbreaking challenge that can impact the ability to eat correctly and speak, lead to hearing problems, and negatively impact self-esteem. Rotaplast’s primary mission is the treatment of children with cleft anomalies. However, in some locations, Rotaplast medical teams treat burn patients and those with other birth defects that can be corrected by plastic surgery. In 2023, Rotaplast International traveled to three countries, performing more than 250 procedures. Two additional medical missions are planned to Luxor, Egypt, in November and Nagamangala, India, in December.

In addition to providing free reconstructive surgery, Rotaplast also teaches local surgeons about the most up-to-date surgical techniques for cleft cases. Our aim is to help local professionals build sustainable models for the care of these children, improving their lives & those of their families.
