No rewarding beginning gets out of the gate perfectly. There are sometimes obstacles that we need to overcome. Our team endured a few hiccups, but we didn’t lose patience or hope. When a few of us needed last minute visas, Daniel DeSanto and Julianna Morales from Rotaplast worked tirelessly to make it happen for us, and we all made it to Medellin!
Mission Director, Randy Floyd also had his work cut out for him today. He and the majority of our team collected all the the luggage and boxes while eight of us stood in extra long line at customs.
We persevered and made it safely to the beautiful, Rotarian owned Hotel San Pedro del Fuerte. After a quick visit to the hospital the team regrouped and gathered for dinner. It was exciting to see how happy everyone was despite how tired we all were.
There were many insightful conversation by our team of dedicated surgical volunteers to some of us that were on our first trip. It was exhilarating to see many deep friendship renewed, as new friendships being formed right before your eyes. Tonight, our Rotaplast team of volunteers was born. We all look forward to meeting the families and children tomorrow as we continue the life changing journey of Saving Smiles and Changing Lives.
