Godfrey Macuto is a bright little boy, born with a cleft lip and palate. While his lip has been repaired, his palate remains untreated.
One day, as Godfrey’s family was waiting in line at an ATM his father noticed another family holding a child and something about the child caught Godfrey’s father’s attention. The baby’s lip bore a faint scar — a scar that looked all too familiar. It was clear the child had undergone cleft lip surgery. Curious and hopeful, he approached the family and asked about the surgery and where it was done. The man tells him about Rotaplast, an organization providing free cleft surgeries.Determined, Godfrey’s father contacts Abounding in Love and learns that Rotaplast will soon be in Cebu.
When the day arrives, Godfrey’s family goes to the pre-clinic, anxiously waiting to see if he will be chosen for surgery. To his immense relief, both Godfrey and the other child, Daniella are selected.
Unfortunately, Godfrey’s father did not get the man’s name or information and hadn’t talked to him since the Atm.
On the final day of the post-clinic, the two families were able to see each other again. With heartfelt gratitude, Godfrey’s father thanked the man who has unknowingly changed his family’s life.
“I can’t express how thankful I am,” he says. “Without him, I wouldn’t have found this opportunity.”
Godfrey’s story was not the only one touched by the generosity of Rotaplast. Daniella Torrevillas and her family were also deeply thankful. Daniella, a sweet girl with a cleft palate, also received the life changing surgery she needed.
Through chance encounters and acts of kindness, lives were transformed. What began as a moment in an ATM line became a story of hope, resilience, and the boundless power of human connection.A simple conversation has sparked a ripple of kindness — and for Godfrey, it marks the beginning of a brighter future.
