What a mission. What a team. What an outcome.

From day one, the energy was strong. During pre-clinic, a large number of potential patients arrived, and the surgical schedule quickly filled up. The team moved into full speed almost immediately. Many of us have worked together on previous missions—and it shows.

There is a powerful combination of professionalism, experience, and deep trust in one another. Everyone understands their role. And yet we are constantly communicating, adjusting, and improvising. Because no mission ever unfolds exactly as planned.

Walk-ins.
Patients with fever or colds.
Children who don’t show up.

It requires flexibility from the entire team. The pressure is high. The timeline is shorter than usual. And there are always more children in need than we can possibly help.

That is exactly why we are so proud of what we achieved together.

Behind those numbers are 80 new beginnings.

Procedures performed included:

  • Cleft lip repairs
  • Cleft lip revisions
  • Cleft palate repairs
  • Fistula repairs
  • Nose corrections
  • Ear corrections
  • Hand surgeries
  • Burn contracture releases

Many patients required multiple procedures at once, which makes the results even more remarkable.

What stood out during this mission was the number of complex and major surgeries. Cases such as cleft lip combined with cleft palate repairs, or extensive burns affecting both sides of the body—hands and feet—require high levels of surgical skill, concentration, and teamwork.

And that is exactly what this team delivered.

The Mission Doesn’t End When We Leave 🤩

A mission is about more than surgery. Follow-up care is just as essential.

Last Sunday, Dr. Bijoy conducted a full post-clinic for 40 patients who needed clean dressings and follow-up checks. An extraordinary voluntary contribution for which we are deeply grateful.

And this coming Sunday, he will return once again to provide follow-up care for the remaining patients who need it. 🙏🏻
