The article tells the story of Gustavo Adolfo, who faced his fifth surgery to improve a cleft that not only took his smile , but also socially isolated him from the world. His struggle was exacerbated by the death of his mother in a motorcycle accident on the way to his first surgery when he was only 2. He was taken out of school after the 5th grade because his speech was poor.
It goes on to describe the Rotaplast mission.
