We are fortunate Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital has been so supportive of our work here and open to their staff and students watching and learning from our experienced team. Residents scrub-in with the surgeons, nurses support our staff, and scrub technicians practice instrument handling during live surgery.
Our head nurse Sharron gave of her already limited time to present to the medical school’s nursing students and staff on the subject of Cleft Lip and Palate Repair. Sharron provided an overview on primary causes, minimum clinical standards for safe surgical selection, post-operative care, and realistic surgical outcomes.
The chief resident gave a fitting tribute to the work performed here – Patients are fearful at pre-op and by their first post-operative appointment the families feel their loved one was treated “by the work of God”. He described the abundance of “Humility, Care and Love” given so freely by everyone supporting this mission.
