From March 13 to 25, Rotaplast International will again do a medical mission in Agra, India with Rotaplast Nederland. Agra is a district in Uttar Pradesh (a state in India). There are approximately 1.6 million inhabitants, the majority of whom are Hindu. From Firozabad (adjacent city) in the hospital The Unity Hospital we will operate on children, young adults and adults on their cleft lip, open palate or adhesions after burns. The latter will be most relevant, because most households cook on kerosene in their kitchens. 90% of burns in India are caused by the kitchen. Unfortunately, this situation is concentrated within lower socioeconomic households. These people do not simply pay for medical assistance, but the mutilations caused by adhesions (the scar tissue in combination with the skin) make the children stigmatized and physically impaired due to their disability.
