We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 to open the clinic. The waiting room was already filled with potential patients with maxillofacial anomalies (cleft lip or palate, protruding or recessed jaw, etc.) with the potential to adversely impact the way in which they were treated by others. They came in the hope that Rotaplast would help them to experience a more normal social life by surgically repairing the anomaly.
The clinic included registration, a physical exam, and an evaluation by the genetics team.
Lunch was served to those in the waiting room by members of Club Rotario Pereira Perla del Otún and their spouses.
Eighty-nine prospective patients were processed today. Surgeries were scheduled for those with good potential for benefit.
