Good morning! Its another beautiful day in Antigua, Guatemala.

Today I would like you to meet Alejandro!

We met Alejandro and his mom Marcella on our first clinic day. They drove two hours from Guatemala City to meet our team after hearing about Rotaplast from their local Rotary Club, Rotario Guatemala de la Asunción.

After going through all of the necessary pre-op exams by Dr. Gregory Shay, Alejandro was taken into the operating room. His surgical team included anesthesiologists, Dr. Hosseini and Dr. Singleton, surgeons, Dr. Milton Solis and Dr. David Moorwood, and nurse Yang. After a successful surgery, Alejandro was taken to the PACU where Nurse’s Fillari and Buoncristiani as well as pediatrician, Dr. Shay took care of him and explained to his mom how the surgery went.

Once back at the ward, Alejandro fell asleep in Nurse Madden’s arms.

After seeing Alejandro for the time after his surgery, his mother, Marcella shared with me the following message for our team: “You are all angels. It makes me so happy to see my son like this….you don’t know how much you help us…I am really happy. I was really scared and now that I see my son, I am not scared, because I know now that he will be ok. I am looking forward to taking him home so that his 3 year old sister, Paola, can see the miraculous work that you have done for her brother. Thank you the angels of Rotaplast.”
